Ms. Mary Alice Bamusiime
Consultant. Gender Specialist in Natural Resources
and Agriculture
Ms. Bamusiime has more than 15 years of experience related to gender mainstreaming in
natural resources and agriculture, gender based violence, renewable energy, gender
mainstreaming of policies, projects and programs, conducting baselines and needs
assessment studies, developing gender mainstreaming strategies as well as developing
training modules and training on women empowerment.
Alice has worked with USAID/Land O’ lakes Program on the Rwanda Dairy Competitiveness
Program II charged with ensuring that gender is integrated in all project activities
with particular focus on female empowerment and Cooperative/ farmers organizations
development, champion in Environmental compliance. Since then Alice has been a
consultant mainly in the area of gender mainstreaming in natural resources and
environmental conservation, as well as rural development and agriculture.
Most recently, she has also participated in the UNDP and REMA baseline Surveys on
landscape restoration in Mayaga as a gender and socio-economic expert in charge of five
(5) baselines; socio-economic, gender analysis and gender action Plan, Stakeholders
analysis and Sustainable land management and sustainable forest management. Alice has
Masters of Development Gender and Rural development and BA in social Sciences Gender and
development from Makerere University, Kampala, Uganda. Ms. Bamusiime is fluent in
English, Kinyarwanda, Kiswahili as well as basic working knowledge of French.
